It is now well established that every digital viewer should have a good quality repair plan in place. The high cost of service calls plus the length of time that your system is going to have to work for, means that this type of cover is an absolute must. If you don't have a repair plan, then you will have to pay for all engineer call out charges and repairs to your equipment. Sky say, quite clearly, that they will not give you another new system for free -even if yours breaks down. So you could be using the same equipment for many years to come. To work out how long you may be expected to use your present equipment for - even if you've upgraded or switched to Sky plus - just ask yourself these two questions:

 

How long have I been watching Sky?

This answer is probably between two and ten years. Yes?

 

How long will I continue watching it for?

This one's not so easy to answer - but the point is that Sky will still be with us in ten years time and it's perfectly possible that you'll be expected to be using the same equipment for that long too. That's not something asked of any other piece of electrical equipment!
